Oanh Bui

My name is Oanh Bui

Screen Name on Poker770: Oanhtime

I am studying Econometrics at the University of Amsterdam. Aside from my studies I have two part time jobs. I work as an Assistant Market Operator at a Power & Gas Exchange and I also do modelling work. Of course I do not work all the time, and in my spare time I love to go shopping, go to the movies, visit nice restaurants, go out for parties and travel around the world.

I have been playing poker for two and a half years now. Before I started playing poker I enjoyed playing several other casino games (Roulette, Blackjack and Punto Banco for example). Once I realized that it was not possible for me to beat those games I looked for another game where winning purely depends on skill rather than just luck. I then discovered poker and fell in love with the game. From that moment on I have never looked back to any of the other casino games.

I started by grinding the small stakes in online Sit & Gos. After playing these for a few months I decided to take a shot at playing a live Ladies tournament in a local casino. I won this tournament and felt on top of the world. I honestly thought I had mastered the game. Of course, I later realized this was not yet the case.

After busting in several consecutive side events, I decided I needed to learn more about the game and did this by reading poker books and by discussing hands with poker player friends. My poker skills improved a lot and I was gaining more and more experience through many hours of practice. Even now, after two and a half years of playing poker, I am still developing my skills and improving my game.

In the past two and a half years I have played more than a hundred live tournaments (Holland Casino Series, Unibet Open, EPT Ladies events, Maria Poker Ladies events and WSOP Ladies and side events, Venetian Deepstacks). My biggest dream is to win a bracelet at the WSOP and my greatest challenge in this male-dominated game is to prove that women can play poker just as well (if not better) than men can.
