Jonathan Kubben

Jonathan Kubben Quiñonez was born on the 15th March 1989 in Brussels (Belgium). Mexican in origin, this young student demonstrated a passion for sport: in 2003 he won the bronze in the Belgian swimming championships and receive sporting honours in Brussels. But it wasn't until 2008 that he discovered poker. At the time he was in his first year at Brussels Université Libre, studying economy, and he travelled a lot working as a model for agencies such as Click Models (New York) and Angels (Paris).

Two years later he started getting serious about the game, reading many books and articles, and finally specialised in live cash games. He became a regular in the NL200. Unfortunately, most of his bankroll was going on his monthly fees and it was difficult for him to raise his limit.

Finally in 2011 he tried online poker. Getting started is always difficult. The first 4 deposits were lost but with his 5th he decided to study online poker using coaching videos (BestKicker/ Winamax). His made his debut perfomances with Full tilt but had a disappointing Black Friday, when part of his bankroll was blocked and he decided to try live games.

It was at the end of 2011 that his friend Jean Marie Vandenborne (Pro770 team member) suggested that he register with Poker770, who offered him the chance to become a pro. After 3 months, Jonathan qualified for the final stage:

He finished 1st in the final leaderboard by winning the last Heads Up and signed a Pro contract with 770. He went to Vienna to take part in the MegaPokerSeries where he finished 2 places from the final table out of 390 players, winning 5,280 dollars.

Today Jonathan concentrates on live MTT's and he hopes to fill out his HendonMob file on the live circuit.
